The composition of the curved lines alongside the block rectangle creates an aesthetically pleasing contrast between the form of the objects. The boy looks alluringly isolated from the other two figures in perspective. He is also the same size as the building, which he is situated directly below. I find this a pleasing aspect of the photograph. The colour palette is mostly grey with a pop of green from the ivy sprawled over the brick wall, which creates another contrast between the organic and the man-made.
The curvature of the roof situated above Ky's head (touching) makes this image look very intriguing as his head puts a barrier between where the roof is at it's thinnest and where it starts to expand. The roof expands upwards into the stark white sky, taking up a third of the top half of the image. It fascinates me that Ky just happened to be stood to the side where he is not covered by the roof, and also seems to separate the rather chaotic side of this image and a rather more simplistic half. The way the sky is so clear and bright white, forces me to look at the beautiful sky scraper - it outlines it harshly; I love this. The tones fall mostly into the grey spectrum. Ky presents a human separation which juxtaposes the bright pop of green and speck of yellow on one side with the monochrome tones on the other. |
