Evaluations of my two best images from task 2:
The texturised nature of the tissue paper brings something more interesting to the composition of this image, especially as the blue ink used inside the jar is the same as the one on the tissue (this is actually due to the fact that I spilt some of the blue ink on my hands and the table which I needed to soak up!). I thought that by adding the tissue I used to mop up the ink it would produce a flowing aspect to the image. By incorporating more of the lovely sapphire blue colour of the ink across the composition of the image I feel like the form is portrayed as more subjective to the viewer leaving them to ponder more questions. |
Much of my work in task 2 was trial and error, this one was no different, although this one was more of a fluke than the rest as all three objects included in the composition, i.e the measuring cylinder, the lid and the penny inside, were already situated here in this sink almost waiting for me to capture them like this. I enjoy how the torch light from my phone (held by a friend) creates a distorted and disrupted shadow which just overlaps with the edge of the lid, and also the plug hole. This unintended linear positioning of the objects generates an interesting format of questionable actions for the viewer. Along with all of this, the 'dirty' sink provides an interesting backdrop for the objects and adds texture to the image.
